There are a couple ways you could use to transfer the DAISY files to your Victor Stream. The first way would be to use Windows Explorer for copying, pasting, and creating the destination folder. Another method would be to use the Humanware Companion software. Although you can transfer just the MP3 files, if you transfer all files including the SMIL, HTM, CSS, MP3 and others then you can have the training information treated as a DAISY talking book and placed in the talking books library. The first set of steps below are for transferring using Windows Explorer. The second set of steps is for transferring using Humanware Companion. You should have the latest firmware from Humanware installed to the Victor Stream and use the newest release of Humanware Companion. Both the firmware and Humanware Companion software can be downloaded from the Humanware web site.

Transferring The Training Information Using Windows Explorer

1. Insert the SD card into the card slot of the computer or connect the USB cable and have Windows recognize the Victor Stream as a removable device.
2. If the auto play program comes into focus then choose to open folder to view files using Windows Explorer. If Windows Explorer does not appear then use Windows key with E to launch Windows Explorer.
3. Find your device or the SD card in the list of drives and press enter to open it, or if there is a tree/list view then tab from the card or device in the tree view into the list view.
4. Use down arrow key until you get to the $VRDTB folder and press enter key to open it.
5. When you open the $VRDTB folder JAWS should say "not selected." If by chance the focus moves to a folder and has it selected then use CTRL with spacebar to deselect the item in the list.
6. Press the application key, press W followed by the enter key. Jaws will tell you that focus is in an edit box and the folder name is "new folder."
7. Without using any navigational keystroke, type in the name that you want for the material being transferred and press enter key. If you use a navigational key before typing in the folder name then you will need to select everything in the edit box and type the new name in to replace the existing text.
8. Use Windows key E to open a second occurrence of Windows Explorer.
9. Open the hard drive and find the program files folder and press enter to open it. Press F until you get to the Freedom Scientific folder and open it by pressing enter key. 15. Use Alt+f4 to close the Windows Explorer session. Use Alt+tab to move to the other Windows Explorer session and close it by using Alt+f4.
16. Use the "Safe to Remove Hardware" wizard to remove the SD card or device from being recognized by Windows. The idea is to make sure all writing to the SD card or to the Stream using the USB cable has completed before removing the card or disconnecting the cable.
17. Remove the card or disconnect the cable.
18. Turn the Victor Stream off if you used the SD card, insert the card into the Victor Stream and turn the unit on again.
19. Browse to the Talking Books bookshelf and find the transferred file. You should now be able to open it and navigate in it using the Victor Stream navigating methods.
