If this has caused you to be unsubscribed from either the JAWS Users List or the Blind Computing list my thinking is that you must have missed either the memo I posted regarding the move or the invitation I sent out asking you to rejoin the list.

Never the less feel free to subscribe again if you wish, it's completely your choice.

The last time I moved the list I simply used the membership list from Google and imported it in to Mailman and in doing that received a few nasty emails from people claiming that they were never on either list in the first place.

So it should be obvious why I did it this way.

A little history about the JAWS Users List and why it was created.

I have always wanted to be on a list like this where people could help each other out by exchanging information and answering questions from people of all skill levels. The fact is no matter what anybody’s particular abilities might happen to be no single person knows everything and even the best of us can benefit by some help every now and again.

The other thing is that I wanted it to be a safe place where nobody would feel self conscious and afraid to ask a question thinking they might be criticized from somebody else for asking it.

I toyed with the idea for several months and finally in October 2005 decided to go ahead create the thing and hope for the best.

Over all it has been a rewarding experience for me in that it has allowed me to make many new friends and what I wanted in the first place is a forum where I could learn from others as well as help folks benefit from what I have learned along the way.
